We were happily sailing along, enjoying life when we looked up one day and found ourselves deep in consumer debt - to the tune of $158,000.00!! (And this figure did NOT include our 350k home mortgage). We were DROWNING and nobody knew it. We were not in a crisis. We had good jobs, and made a good combined salary. But we had nothing to show for it. We had 4 small children who needed to go to college someday, and no savings accounts. Needless to say, we were panicked and scared. To make matters worse, the stress from our financial issues were taking a toll on our marriage relationship. And we found ourselves drifting.
We heard a financial guru state that it was possible to enjoy life without payments. And we wondered, “could we really do this?” We decided it was time to start our financial journey to debt freedom. It started with us aligning our finances, and our marriage, according to God’s blueprints. Over the next few years, we fought and clawed our way out of debt, by following specific systems and processes. We became debt free and managed to accumulate a healthy net worth. Along the way, we grew passionate about marriage and finance.
